Art Therapy with Youth
1. Resources
We take the time to get to know your child through age appropriate activities. Playing helps reduce fears about "talking" about their worries and challenges. Art based activities enable youth to communicate through words, actions, play, and images.
2. Review their Strengths
We learn your child's special interests and strengths and what makes them unique. We want to understand what is working well and build in their existing skills.
3. Identify Obstacles.
We also take the time to identify the challenges from the perspective of the child, parents, siblings, and schools, if possible. We discuss what is getting in the way of meeting their goals, while having fun.
4. Plan to Overcoming Obstacles.
We are here to help untie the knots that keep things stuck. Together we make a plan to understand themselves better, what triggers them, and build the skills to overcome these challenges.
5. Staying on Track
We provide ongoing support and feedback that helps your child and you to sustain the positive new changes.
